The greatest lessons you learn in life tend to be the most painful ones. They stick with you. That's why 2020 should've been your best year yet. 2020 was like a course accelerator with twenty years of life's lessons crammed into a 12 month span! Just think of it: pandemic; shortages and disruption to the supply chain; riots and security threats; financial hardships, systematic breakdown of political and civic institutions - and that's just off the top of my head! So, what did you learn about yourself? 1. How prepared were you? 2. How did you adapt to these unprecedented changes? 3. Did you innovate and solve your problems? 4. Did you overcome and thrive or are you still waiting for someone to wake you up from the new normal? For my tribe, there's a lot of things we got right.....and some things we got wrong. There are things going on that have yet to play out, so we're adjusting fire and making corrections as we go. We're finding ways to strengthen the bonds of our family and friendships, while making ourselves more physically and mentally more resilient. And I'm grateful for that. Don't get me wrong, 2020 sucked and can burn in hell, but I wouldn't trade the knowledge, experience, and growth I've gained as a result of going through it. But here's the catch: there's no evidence that 2021 is going to be any better. It's just not. If 2020 has taught us anything, it's taught us that we have no idea of what the future holds. But with the bonds of faith, family, and friendship, we will face it and overcome it together. So, here's wishing you a very happy and prosperous new year! Let's make 2021 the year of the overcomer. Stay sharp.
