We are witnessing no less than the systematic take down of America. Cities across the country are being looted, burned, and destroyed, while it's citizens are being viciously attacked and beaten on the streets. Radical groups are setting up autonomous zones with in some towns reminiscent of scenes from a Mad Max movie. And the scary of it all is the leadership is allowing it to happen. Make no mistake. If they wanted to stop it, they could. There's an acronym that's been coined, which you may be familiar with. It's WROL. It stands for Without Rule Of Law. I think you understand, but the basic idea is that WROL is where the basic order and fabric of society has broken down temporarily or permanently. For the most part, laws may still be enforced, but selectively. We've seen this here before in the 60's, the 90's, and even a few years ago. But coming on the heels of Covid-19, it feels a different. I don't have the time or inclination to get into the politics of this, although, without a doubt, the politics are inseparably linked. But what I do want to talk about is what steps you need to be taking to make sure you and your family are secure during this upheaval. I have no idea how this will all play out, but I've been seeing reports of rioters saying that they are going to take it from the "streets to the suburbs." I don't know if that has/will happen, but it's in the realm of possibility. So, that means you need to be ready. When it comes to security operations, the best time to start is before disaster strikes. The next best time is NOW! If you that's you, then start with these 4 basic rules of preparation: 1. Network. The toilet paper shortage we had when Covid-19 first broke should've been all it took for you to appreciate you the importance of having a store of food, water, medical, and other supplies. But networking - building a tight knit group of like-minded people you can band together with is equally important. Your network is you first line of defense that can help provide support and protection if things go south. If WROL comes to your neighborhood, I don't care how many guns and ammo you have stockpiled, chances are slim that you'll be able to defend it by yourself. You're either building a team or you're building up supplies for others to take it from you. 2. Fitness. This is the time to be the best version of yourself that you can be. That means being physically, emotionally, and mentally fit. Physical fitness will allow you to move and perform better, while building resistance to sickness and fatigue. Mental and emotional fitness will help you make smart decisions and give strength and encouragement to your family. Get fit. Enough said. 3. Supplies. I mentioned this in point one, but I'll say it again. Now is the time to start building your supplies of food, water, and other essentials. Start small, say a week's worth of food, then go from there. You'll build momentum in no time. And above all, don't broadcast it out to others. Only your family and those in your network (see point 1) need to know. 4. Training. Legally arm yourself and train yourself in the science of self-protection. Shooting holes in paper is a good start, but it's not enough. You need to learn the tactical principles by which to apply the technical skills you learn and practice on the range. Seek out instructors with real world experience. YouTube is not gonna get it done. So, there you have it guys. A quick checklist to get your prepared for the uncertainty ahead. Take action today. I'll help you anyway I can. Stay sharp. Mark

Not sure the best way to network locally (other than my gun club that is an hour drive). I live in suburbs in a quiet neighborhood.

I hear you, Denise. It can be a challenge. You can build a network anywhere as long as the people are like-minded. You can start with your family, close friends, or co-workers. The main thing is that they are people you trust that share your concerns and want to be networked. Once you vet the right people, you can take it from there.

Beans and rice are still affordable. Not a complete nutritional profile, I know, but it is a good foundation. Add bouillon and seasonings to your supplies to stave off food fatigue. Good luck.
